The Bluest Skies

There was an old song that went,
"The bluest skies you've ever seen are in Seattle."

The same goes for Tacoma, and Federal Way,
and Edmonds, and Everett.

High Pressure/Gorgeous Sunsets

There's been a high pressure system
off the Washington coast,
bringing milder temperatures
and blue skies.

Makes Olympic ski runs
a little softer than usual,
but gives us great sunsets.

Raindrops and Cattails

It's wet today.

I tried to get a photo of the ducks
that recently arrived at the pond,
but they were having none of that.

So have raindrops
and cattails instead.

Cold and Clear

With the deadline looming for my contributions
to an anthology that's going to publishers soon,
I've been neglecting my Tacoma publicity gig.

So, a day late,
here's yesterday's post
(I'll adjust the date).

It's cold and clear here.

It was around 30 degrees when I left home
in the warmest part of the day.

The creek behind my house is frozen
and the pond has a thin veneer of ice.
I bring the hummingbird feeder in daily to thaw it out
because I saw some little guys flitting around
just last week.

It Can Get Dreary

It can get rather dreary in Tacoma

this time of year,
but at least the bare branches look pretty
silhouetted against the gray sky.

False Advertising

The photo of St. Joseph Hospital
in my earlier blog post today
wasn't taken yesterday, for sure.

Our environs got a soaking yesterday
from a strong cell of thunderstorms.
The roofs of Tacoma looked like this

mid-to-late afternoon.

The blue sky was just a memory.

Shhhh!

Shhh! Don't spill the beans. . .

The Pacific Northwest may be known
as a rainy, gray place
but we have bright, sunny days.
Sometimes it gets downright hot.

And then again. . . .
sometimes the rainy reputation
is well deserved.
