Art Jewelry

Tacoma Art Museum has a fine collection
of studio art jewelry.
This is a beautiful piece, but what really grabbed
my attention was the interplay
of light and shadow behind the piece.

Lenticular Clouds

Mt. Rainier with a lenticular cloud cap --
not an infrequent occurence. But it's rare to see
a stack of similar clouds next to the peak.

This is taken from a window at Tacoma Art Museum.
The building with the red stripe is the Museum of Glass.

Clouded Leopard Babies

This pair of babies is about 10 weeks old.
The Pt. Defiance Zoo is one of three U.S zoos
 breeding endangered clouded leopards.
The other two are the National Zoo in Washington, D.C.
(part of the Smithsonian) and the Nashville Zoo.
Tacoma's clouded leopard cubs, born June 14,
brought the total number of cubs
born in the U.S. in 2011 to 8.

Gig Harbor Arts & Crafts Festival

Just a short ride away
across a graceful suspension bridge
that sits next to her newcomer sister
you'll find the lovely village
of Gig Harbor.

And if you're so inclined
you can browse the booths
of the Arts & Crafts Festival
sponsored by
Peninsula Art League.
Runs through Sunday,
so don't delay.

More History

Times of uncertainty
